After you browse through my collection of "Still Life" fine art prints, you may realize that Still Life photography is a bit of an oxymoron for me - simply because may subjects I photograph just ain' t still!.

I love to photograph flowers. However, here, my self imposed rules governing my landscape photography all but vanish - the gloves are off so to speak. That's not to say I manipulate the reality out of the images. What I aim to do is to enhance, uncover, reveal, features of the subject that might not ordinarily stand out.

The basic techniques I use to do this revolve around something akin to hand tinting. Essentially creating a black and white still life original and putting back some of the color.

I also like to create empirical effects by combining several images and blending them in ways that allow different colors to emerge and areas of the subject seemingly in and out of focus.

One further technique that makes for a particularly interesting fine art print, enhances the surface detail of the subject - usually flowers, and selectively tones those areas - again, a bit like hand painting.

A selection of my still life prints is shown opposite, but browse through the catalog to see a complete list of available fine art still life prints.
